The day had rolled around for Spring Break. Plussers from all over the land hit the road, on the way to The Cotswolds. Messages went out about traffic at Stow and KFC at Reading. Eventually, the first of us arrived and the word was that we had scored a lodge! So much more space than the caravan that we were expecting. The lap of hot tub luxury for the three wonderful nights of Plus ahead of us.
After all the unpacking and discovering that our lodge comes with a bonus extra member, there was a parting of the wet and the dry. Some went into the hot tub on the veranda, others went over to the venue. The thing about the venue is that, as well as their own twist on bingo, they also do food. Rather than ordering by table number, they give you a token that you take with you into the loud darkness. When it flashes, you return for dinner – a bit like a disco on a plate, only pre-plate.
Dinners done; it was on to the entertainment. Music played and singers sang. Most of all we spoke with our friends from other Plus groups around the country. When the hour came, we returned to our hut for more chatting and planning for the weekend ahead as the witching hour drew closer.
